Grandpa Tim's Bio

My name is Timothy Scott Huyck, but I prefer to go by my favorite moniker - Grandpa Tim. I love to create photographic art. My interest in photography began in 1967 and my academic aspirations soon turned to Art Center College of Design. But before I was able to complete the admission requirements of that school, my life took a turn.

I was called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina. Two years later, I was a different person and my priorities had profoundly changed. Instead of pursuing a degree from Art Center, I enrolled at Brigham Young University. For an aspiring fine art photographer, this may not have been the best choice, but it was here that I met the love of my life and began a family.

Because of our growing household, my attention turned to means other than photography to provide a living. I spent the bulk of my adulthood working in the real estate industry in one capacity or another.

When the real estate crash of 2008 wiped us out financially, I decided to change careers. At age 58, I entered law school. I passed the California bar exam the month after graduation and began preparing for a career in estate planning. I currently practice estate planning and bankruptcy law at the Gartland Group in La Quinta, California.

You may think that photography is just a hobby for me. You would be wrong. It is my passion. It is what I have wanted to do since my junior year of high school. I start my workdays at 4:30 a.m. to make sure that I can devote the time necessary to create stunning, provocative, and interesting photographs. It is fondly hoped that you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoy creating it.
